As part of its effort to keep its residents informed, ELNCA operates a Yahoo! Groups list-serve to which its members may subscribe. Through this service, subscribers can send an e-mail message to a special address and it will automatically be distributed to all of the subscribers at once.
To request admission to the list-serve, send an e-mail to the “opt-in” address: ELNCAfirstname.lastname@example.org (there is no need to type a message or subject).
Anyone who is a member of the ELNCA Mail List can send e-mail to ELNCA@yahoogroups.com and it will automatically go to everyone on the list. Whenever you have information that you think will be of interest to everyone in the neighborhood, you can send it to this address and it will automatically distribute it. There is no need to contact anyone.
PLEASE BE CAREFUL! When you REPLY to a message from the e-mail list, you are sending your reply to EVERYONE on the list. It is often more appropriate to FORWARD your response to a specific person (usually, the person who originally posted the message).
To prevent your mailbox from being filled with ELNCA mail, you can set the system consolidate all of a day’s messages into one digest that is mailed out. Therefore, at most you would only receive one message from ELNCA per day (if there are no messages, then it does not send out an empty digest). Unfortunately, this means that if you send out a message today, people will not receive it until tomorrow. If you want to activate this feature, you must first register with Yahoo. Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/ and click on “Link your accounts to a Yahoo! ID here.”
Next, type your e-mail address into the “Don’t have a password? Forgot your password?” space. You will then have the option of answering some questions. That is it – you are registered. Next you should go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ELNCA and click on Members, find your name on the list, and change your delivery method to the one you want.
You will notice that there is a small advertisement on each digest. It may not look great, but it keeps this service free.
If you don’t want to be on the list anymore, you can send e-mail to ELNCAemail@example.com and you will be removed from the list.
PLEASE USE THIS SERVICE RESPONSIBLY
Send personal e-mail directly to the person you want to communicate with and do not put events or reminders that are not of general interest on the calendar. If people abuse these services they will be banned!
Also, please note that the list-serve is unmoderated. This means that incoming e-mails are not reviewed by any representative of the ELNCA prior to their being sent and posted. While a decision may be made to ban someone from the list for inappropriate behavior (such as the use of profanity or unreasonably offensive language or content), no one will be banned because of an opinion expressed in a message.
